Moving from Ireland to America in 2012 they have begun to perform a cross section of musical styles for beguiled audiences across the country. With simplicity they sing and tell their story of inheritance and originality with a humour and authenticity that is immediately entertaining.
The brothers share a grain of the voice that is hypnotic when singing in unison and electric when singing in harmony. It is this familial sound that has been so striking for so many audiences worldwide.
Owen (37) & Mícheál Moley (33) learned a store of sacred song from their mother, Dr. Nóirín Ni Riain. They began performing with her in an a capella vocal trio in 2004. The brothers learned Gregorian chant, Irish sean nos (ancient traditional) song, and hymns from many traditions. The brothers also write songs together. Their only goal was to write songs that lift and apprentice the human heart to generosity and gratitude, and the songs must also be Groovy! Owen is a world class guitar player and Moley is one of Irelands greatest rappers and human beatboxers...
Owen and Moley are now living in New York City. They have just released an album of original songs called 'Happy Songs' . They are currently working on a 3rd album of a capella sacred song from many traditions.
They have performed with Russell Crowe, The Chieftains, Bobby McFerrin, renowned poet David Whyte, Canadian rocker Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) and violinist Nigel Kennedy. Director Steven Spielberg also cast them to sing in his 2012 movie WAR HORSE. The brothers will appear too in the forthcoming movie 'WINTERS TALE' (2013).
Owen & Moley have appeared on an album with the monks of Glenstal Abbey (Biscantorat) which also featured John O' Donohue and Irish singer Sinead O' Connor. They have appeared with renowned Irish singers Brian Kennedy and Julie Feeney, and have performed with legendary Irish traditional supergroup The Chieftains. Recently Owen & Moley have performed regularly with the inspired poet and speaker David Whyte and have travelled to Ireland and Tuscany with him several times.
'Im a huge fan of Size2shoes, from the inspired mastery of their harmonies, to the streetwise intellect of their humour. Unique, unaffected, awesome' Russell Crowe
The brothers O Súilleabháin certainly have inherited an extremely articulate streak from a wealth of sources. They have had the privilege of being often in conversation with the Irish president Michael D Higgins, the poet David Whyte, Mary Robinson, Abbot Patrick Hederman, Sogyal Rinpoche, American director Steven Spielberg, classical violinist Nigel Kennedy, Australian actor Russell Crowe, Canadian musician Alan Doyle, Irish philosopher Richard Kearney and Riverdance composer Bill Whelan, poet Billy Collins, Barbara Brown Taylor, and author Daniel Goleman.
Moley & Owen have wide experience of performing both as speakers and at speaking events. Their parents are both lauded academics, musicians, and cultural ambassadors in Ireland and the brothers have performed with David Whyte regularly for several years and have enjoyed and grown remarkably within that apprenticeship.
These two brothers have so much to say about a range of issues inside and outside the artistic world. Owen is an honours student of Philosophy and Greek and Roman Culture as well as having a MA in Peace & Development Studies. Moley is an ethnomusicologist with a MA specialisation in Rap music in Ireland and the global spread of cultural arts. Both Owen & Moley's experience in the field of leadership and public performance make them a fresh and vibrant addition to any panel or event that requires a speaking mandate.
Owen & Moley have an appetite for this mode of performance and have a large experience and courage in this regard. They believe that a creative excellence in the arts and music can be made relevant to all parts of individual and organisational life.
